In 2018, we travelled to Argentina on behalf of an international food manufacturer. There, we evaluated the possibilities of reducing emissions in apple and pear cultivation on a trial farm.
Based on the data we collected on site, we first determined a carbon footprint. We were also able to determine the soil fertility with the help of soil samples. We then went through the results with the farm staff and came up with suggestions on how they could amend their practices and improve composting.
This enabled us to demonstrate how the farm could increase its soil fertility and reduce emissions.
