Milestones in Soil & More's history

Within the short period of its existence, Soil &More has grown exponentially  with regards to its staff but also concerning its product and service range.  

2007:

  • 26 February 2007 establishment of Soil & More International at chamber of commerce in Holland
  • Establishment of Joint Venture Soil & More Mexico with local partner FairTrasa (Mexico)
  • Composting facilities qualified as emission reduction projects according to UNFCCC’s guidelines
  • Development of a Carbon Footprint calculation model, certified by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH
  • Nominated for the Dutch Innovation & Sustainability Award
  • Establishment of Soil & More Foundation (R&D, advisory services, training, awareness raising)
  • Finalist in the Dutch Top 10 New Venture Competition
  • Start licensee agreement for composting in Egypt with local company Sekem Group

2008:

  • Soil & More Sustainability Conference in Egypt
  • Establishment of Joint Venture EcoProfit (Soil & More Egypt) in Egypt
  • Establishment of Joint Venture Soil & More Reliance with local company Reliance Compost (South Africa)
  • Soil & More Reliance wins tender of Cape Town and is officially allowed to collect the city's green waste for composting.
  • Soil & More joins IFOAM and the GRI
  • Soil & More carried out first certified Carbon Footprints

2009:

  • Approached by Clinton Foundation for cooperation in various countries
  • Soil & More Sustainability Conference and Footprinting Workshop in South Africa
  • Extension of product range and services
  • 3 new team members
  • Soil & More joins the Water Footprint Network
  • Soil & More follows training provided by the Water Footprint Network

2010:

  • Establishment Soil & More Ethiopia with local company Farm Organics International
  • Agreement with Fairtrade Labeling Organisation to incorporate environmental aspects within the Fairtrade certification scheme
  • Nominated for the United Nations Business and Development Award
  • Establishment Soil & More Bhumya (India) with local company Ambootia Tea Group
  • Soil & More Reliance’s composting project selected as official CO2e compensation projects for the Fifa World Cup.
  • 13 national soccer teams made climate neutral through Soil & More credits

2011:

  • Move to a new office
  • Continuation of cooperation with Fairtrade Labeling Organization
  • Extension of [product range and services
  • Focus on PR and Communication: new, trilingual website and more involvement with social media
  • 2 new team members
  • Focus on R&D: ecological and economic performance of several crops in Egypt
